Two common myths about Viagra
Myth #1: "Herbal Viagra" is Safer or Better
The time we live in is strange. For thousands of years, people have been concocting mixtures that they sell, claiming the mixtures are a cure for erectile dysfunction.
Dozens of herbal mixtures – like yohimbine, ginseng, and even cocaine – have been mentioned as a remedy.
A simple fact is that some of the results of these attempts were, in most cases, probably little more than a placebo effect. Though some of the treatments might have been enough to help some men, but most were just a waste of money.
Things have changed now. There are presently three relatively safe oral drugs approved by the FDA for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. These drugs don't often work on a hope and a prayer; they actually affect the physiology of the body to produce strong and lasting erections.
In the face of this new and revolutionary change, how do the dealers of tonics and potions react? They adopt the "Viagra" name and re-label their product "Herbal Viagra". Despite being untested, unregulated and uncontrolled, is this an improvement on a drug that has been deemed a success by millions of men worldwide who use it?
An astonishing thing is that a myriad of "Herbal Viagra" products actually contain Viagra! What some of the makers do is that they sneak in a generic version of Sildenafil Citrate. So it is possible some of the "Herbal Viagra tablets" that actually work are actually knock-off Viagra of unknown dose and quality.
Anyone who has erectile dysfunction and doesn't want to use drugs could try healthy living, exercise, and a good diet.
To think that that an herbal concoction is going to be safer or more effective than Viagra is actually self-deluding.
Myth #2: Viagra is addictive
There is this fear amongst many men that if they successfully try Viagra pills, they will crave for the wonder drug and will never be able to have sex without it again. These men fear that they could somehow become addicted to the drug.
Like other drugs, Viagra is open to abuse. But concerns over becoming addicted or dependent on Viagra are unfounded.
For many men, taking Viagra improves their confidence enough to actually let them have sex without the drug. Performance anxiety can lead to erectile problems which can even further aggravate the performance anxiety. Viagra has the ability to break this cycle, and in the process, render itself redundant.
Those who have more severe erectile dysfunction may never be able to engage in sex without using Viagra. To these people, Viagra is likely to become nothing more than a natural part of their sexual lives. Since no high is associated with Viagra, and since it is not a sexual stimulant, there is no incentive to take it except when one is feeling frisky for starters.
Some people feel like such a "superman" when they take Viagra that they are not willing to have sex the normal way. This is quite dangerous, if only it necessitates Viagra being important where it is otherwise not so. This is the reason why it is advised that men be honest with their partners about when they use Viagra tablets.
Then, whether or not to take Viagra becomes a decision of both partners, thereby ensuring that the best possible experience is made by them.
