Myths and truths about ED

Brian is 45 years old and suffers from erectile dysfunction. The only problem is that he is unaware what exactly this means. For many people the notion of erectile dysfunction (or impotency as it is more commonly known as) is one that is filled with many myths and socially accepted untruths. This has led to a reduced understanding of the condition and the ways by which its effect can be limited or treated.

The following are just some of the many myths about ED:

Men suffering from ED have low sperm count: This is not true. Erectile dysfunction is the term used to describe men who are unable to achieve health erections when they wish to engage in sexual activity.

Instead their erections are found to be either half formed or completely absent. On the other hand, low sperm count is the condition experienced by men who—upon ejaculation produce semen with little sperm content. Their chances of causing pregnancy are thus reduced. The relationship between ED and low sperm count, though poorly placed is based on a forgivably simple train of thoughts. Men who suffer from ED are unable to normally cause a pregnancy because they are unable to engage in sex. Men who suffer from low sperm count will also have difficulties in causing a pregnancy. But this is not because they can not engage in sex—which they can, but because the end results of these sexual trysts are too low for a successful fertilization.

Men who suffer from ED are suffering from cancer: Erectile dysfunction is caused by a multitude of factors. In some rare cases, cancer is one of them. However, most of the men who suffer from erectile dysfunction do not suffer from cancerous conditions. The inability of a man to develop a normal erection is caused by a failure of his body to provide sufficient blood flow to the penile areas as a result of many body factors. For example men who suffer from diabetes or cardiac conditions are likely to find it more difficult to provide the required blood flow for an erection.

Erectile dysfunction cannot be treated: This is not true. There are in fact many treatments that have over the years been used for sufferers of erectile dysfunction. One of these involves the use of a penile implant—the insertion of a semi erect rod which can be pumped when the man wishes to have sex. The use of relaxant injections was also prominent in the late 70s and early 80s. However, by far the most common means of addressing the condition of impotency involves the use of anti-impotence tablets. Whilst there are a number of tablets offered in the market today for this treatment, by far the most common and effective is that produced by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer.

Pfizer is responsible for the production of Viagra, the very first tablet designed to combat erectile dysfunction. It is sold in doses of 25mg, 50mg and a 100mg. Viagra tablets can be bought in a various ways. However, the most effective method for buying Viagra is through the use of online pharmacies. This is because Viagra pills available online are sold at far more affordable prices. They also provide a more convenient way of buying your erectile dysfunction tablets.
