Electrifying Viagra

Reports emerging from Israel have literally shocked the world.
A group of researchers at the Ramban Medical center in Haifa have announced that they have found a new cure for men who are suffering from erectile dysfunction.

This cure is states as being less expensive than present day methods, more effective and will less risk of side effects. The idea proposed by Yoram Vardi, the head of the neurology department in the institute is bold as it is electrifying—in order to restore erectile strength to the male organs of patients, he shocks them.

Using, what the department describes as low intensity shockwaves, the department claims that this new “shock” treatment will not only restore the erection of men. It is also claimed that the shocks trigger the growth of new blood cells within the penis which then redresses the effects of erectile dysfunction.

20 men were involved in the research. They each received various shockwave treatments on different parts of their penis twice a week. After three years, 15 of the men were found to have improved results. The tests are reported to have no negative effects. Although Yoram Vardi is deemed to be sincere about his claims, there is very little support for his method.

Critics point out the length of time which his process would take. 3 years is a long time for a man to wait for his next possible erection. Also, the positive effects of shockwaves at healing erectile dysfunction have not been found with men who regularly use vibrators—a device which produces similar shock actions.

Currently there is little support or effort to apply the daring idea of Yoram Vardi to public use—a move that does not sit well with the head of department.

When interviewed Yoram Vardi said:
“We can really reverse erectile problems with this. While patients with erectile dysfunction can function with Viagra or Cialis, this is not a cure – when they stop the medication, they cannot function. This is only a preliminary study, but here with shockwaves, we can do something biological for the problem – after treatments, these patients can function without the need for medication.”

Animal studies conducted by the researchers revealed that low intensity shockwaves trigger growth of new blood vessels and this somehow improves blood flow.

Dr Vardi’s approached is aimed at addressing patients who are unable to use anti-impotent tablets because of the possible danger to their health. In an observation, Dr Vardi said, “Cardiovascular problems are responsible for approximately 80 percent of patients with erectile dysfunction, so that’s a huge amount of patients.”

Viagra tablets can currently be used by people with heart conditions. However it is encouraged that opinion of a physician be sought before taking Viagra pills.  Viagra tablets are also not to be used alongside tablets containing Nitrates.
