Viagra and adult material are not basics on the administration’s food stamp list. But federal agencies say a Detroit booze shop provided them during a series of criminal trades.
National prosecuting officers registered fraud charges this working week against 3 individuals who worked at Jefferson’s Liquor Palace.
The questionable scheme worked this way: Food stamp recipients would get money from the shop in exchange for abstracting bigger numbers off their electronic cards. The shop would then be refunded by the United States Agriculture Department.
In some of the illegal transactions, the authorities said that the store provided informants Viagra, alcohol and porno in exchange for swiping about $2,000 off food stamp cards.
The authorities says fraud at the shop topped $130,000 over 2 1/2 years. The shop is now closed.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A U.S. judge ruled on Tuesday that drugmaker Pfizer’s trademark had been infringed when a man towed a decommissioned missile around Manhattan emblazoned with the words “Viva Viagra,” the slogan for Pfizer’s blockbuster impotence drug.
Pfizer sued Arye Sachs after he parked the 20-foot-long (7-meter-long) decommissioned missile outside its headquarters in September 2008 in a stunt to promote his business selling outdoor advertising spots on retired military equipment.
U.S. District Judge William Pauley ruled in favor of Pfizer for trademark infringement claims. “If defendants intended this to be funny, Pfizer did not get the joke,” he said.
Pfizer, which has spent millions advertising and promoting Viagra tablets, argued consumers could think Sachs’ missile was an ad for the drug.
